No state in the US is more associated with gambling than Nevada. For many years Nevada was the sole state where live casino gambling was legal. It only makes sense that Nevada would be the first state to legalize online gambling, right? Not so much.
Nevada became the second US state to legalize online poker when it passed AB114 on February 25, 2013. Delaware was actually the first state to make online poker legal. Nevada soon partnered with the World Series of Poker brand to create an online poker room that has been very successful.
As for other forms of online casino gambling, Nevada has been slow to even consider the matter. They have a good reason. Making online casinos legal could hamper the revenues of the live casinos in the state. Nevertheless, Nevada has been impressed by the numbers from online gambling in New Jersey. The chances are good that online casinos will ultimately appear in Nevada at some point in the future.
Sports betting has always been huge in Nevada, and the state has authorized physical sportsbooks in the state to provide mobile betting with apps. The Nevada Gaming Policy Committee is the organization most responsible for overseeing the online gambling legislation in Nevada.
